A Cat With No Name

She came to me a stray and wild

     A furry thing to tame

She was to be as if my child

But did not have a name

Soft as down & solid gray She was a little meek She hid from everything by day she mastered "Hide & Seek"

Responding well to "Hey you, cat!" What else did I need I need not even call her that To summon her to feed

Then came the time for me to take This furball to the vet I hear them now "For goodness sake" "No name for her as yet?"

So names I tried and then rejected Nothing seemed quite right Before too long I felt dejected And could not sleep at night.

She's just a silly cat, you know And never would show shame But people will not let me go 'Till I give her a name.
