Poetry
My father has been a poet since college when he found it was a great
way to impress the girls. I read and memorized a lot in college to
try to impress one girl in particular. A few years ago, during a
particularly emotional time, I tried my hand at writing as a means of
emotional release. It was very effective, but the end product was far
too personal to share with the world. Besides, it would mean little
out of the context of the time it was written. Nevertheless, there
are a few that, more or less, were capable of standing alone and
could be presented here.
In style, I was strongly influenced by my father and may post some
of his better stuff some day. I was also influenced by a Danish
Mathematition, Scientist and poet, Piet Hein. If I can ever get
permission from his publisher, I may post some of that stuff, too. It
was his tradition to include a little drawing to go along with the
poem. I have tried to do that, too. If only I could draw better.

I had a new kitten and the urge to write a poem.
People were constantly asking me if I had named the new kitten yet.
I felt I had higher priorities at the moment.
A friend of mine told me of dreams she had where she felt she would
wake up with "Stardust on her toes". It was too good a line to let
slip by.
A weighty subject, but you have to be a bit of a geek to get it.
Story of my life.
Do you know this feeling?
Words of wisdom, rearranged.
A new job had me on the road 80% of the time. I was getting very
used to hotels all over. Going home to visit the folks just didn't
feel the same.
I spent a LOT of time on the phone while traveling.
Another way of saying, "Be careful what you ask for. You just might
get it".
My one and only attempt at a country song. Based on an actual event
experienced by a close friend (now divorced and remarried).
